PROJECT 8

You may assume that I would be jumping in joy the moment I knew that this was my final project for this semester, but you'd be wrong if you did so. To be down right honest, I was pretty bummed when i got to know about this as this would be the last day that my friends from the design majors and the non-design students would be studying together in one lecture hall. Mega sigh... project 8 was the most unique projects that I've ever came across in my life. This was because we had to perform in front of our studiomasters and also in front of the big shots of the school of HBP (housing, building and planning). As usual, this project had its own theme; The lost kingdoms. We got Majapahit as our theme. My jaw almost dropped to the ground when I heard our theme. Then I burst out laughing when I saw the traditional outfit of the people of Majapahit. The other majors had their own themes too;

Architecture - Srivijaya
Interior Design – Singhasari
Urban & Regional Planning – Langkasuka
Building Surveying – Pagaruyung
Building Technology – Mataram
Construction Management - Demak

This is how the traditional raiment of the people from Majapahit looks like;

As for the performance, an argument was heated up. Some wanted to do a sketch and the rest wanted to do a dance as they thought that it would be easier because they didn't have to memorise the script and after discussing thoroughly, we all decided to dance :) At first we decided to dance for only one song; Asmaradana. I had to join the boys' team as I could have never pulled off the graceful look of a female dancer :/

First day of practice. The girls were divided into 2 groups A and B. The boys and I were in group C. The girls were doing great and team C on the other hand were doing nothing as it was very difficult for us to catch up with the dance moves from YouTube. Then I had a brilliant idea. I called up 2 of my friends whom were good with traditional dance. We waited for almost 45 minutes for them. Mean while, the girls were practicing their part and as you can tell, the boys and I were doing nothing productive at that very moment :D

My friends arrived, finally. The boys then decided to do modern instead of traditional dance. My friends weren't good in modern dance. Then, we found our saviour angel ; Jerry! Jerry was one of the best dancers whom I've ever came across. He then thought us a few dance moves for the night.

Jerry's the dude on the right

The next day, we all went shopping for outfits. The girls did their shopping and I went with the boys to guide them as I had to wear the same attire as them.

We went to Kamdar by our coursemates' cars.  After shopping, we decided to head straight back to our university. But there was one tiny problem, one of my coursemates couldn't remember where he parked his car. Yes, we went all around the car-park looking for his car. It was tiring but at the same time it was hilarious! hahahahaah

Today was a killer as we practiced until almost 6 in the morning :'( We practiced for Asmaradana and our retro-themed dance; Round the Clock.

One of my coursemates even fell asleep when the other girls were practicing their dance moves :p

The big day! Brace yourselves folks as you're about to witness the best performance in the history of USM;

(ps; copy and paste this link onto your address bar to view a mind blowing performance by our team :D by the way you can only view the video if you're on my friends list on facebook, my sincere apologies for that)

As a team we won best costume and 2nd placing for the best banner for project 7. Individually a few of us won awards

1) Yeon Weini got the Best Singer award

2) The Best King award went to Muhammad Amirul bin Izmi

3)Muhammad Nur Redha bin Same'aun won the award for the Best Director

4)Last but but definitely not the least, my best friend, Azzy and I won an award called Soul-Sisters. It was totally unexpected because we were outside after dinner and as we walked into the hall, our names were called. We walked down the stairs feeling completely clueless on what we've won. When we found out that we've won the Soul-Sisters award, we were over the moon as it was the truth :D

Oh boy I'm really going to miss the fantastic moments I had with my friends from the design studio...
